*Following removal of a tooth, you will be asked to bite on a gauze pad for up to 45 minutes. It's important to establish a clot in the site of the extacted tooth.
*If bleeding or oozing continues, another gauze pad should be placed and bite firmly for another 30 minutes. This might be repeated several times.
*An ice pack can be placed on the skin in the affected area to minimize swelling... this can be done for about 10 minutes every half hour or so during the first 24 hours following the extraction.
*Keep the head elevated above the level of the heart in order to minimize swelling and throbbing.
